Chocolate Flower Pops

When your family has a family party, is there someone who always like to plan a special activities or treat?  That’s me!  These chocolate pops came about because I was hosting my mom’s 80th birthday party for my family.  We had tons of great food and even a double decker cake decorated by the grand kids.  I wanted everyone to leave with a little treat they could eat later, and I decided on the chocolate pop!

It was super easy and my boys were able to help out.  We started by looking at possible chocolate molds that would mean something to my mom.  She loves flowers and we had just been at her house planting flowers a few weeks before.  We chose the flower we wanted and purchased four molds.

This is super important because if you only buy one mold, it will take FOREVER to make enough for everyone!  The first time I made these I only bought one mold and it took me three days to make the amount I needed.  This time I didn’t make that same mistake.

The chocolate I used this time was an Ambrosia Chocolate Block that I had purchased at Christmas time for dipping pretzels.  Here is another type of chocolate I have used in the past that is super yummy, but I always use Ambrosia, because I want the taste to be real chocolate!

I used a package of lolly sticks and squeeze bottle to melt the chocolate in and then be able to squeeze it right into the mold.  I had to be careful with heating in the microwave because ten seconds too much and the chocolate could turn to chalk.  You could heat it on a double boiler on the stove, but I wanted my boys to help out.

First, we put the sticks into the mold, then squeezed the chocolate into the mold we stirred the chocolate around a little to make sure there weren’t any air bubbles.  We made a nice level spot in the freezer and placed them there for about 30 minutes. (That’s why you need four or more molds, if it takes 30 min for each to set, then this could take days!)

We popped out the chocolate pops, placed them in small decorative baggies and twist tied them with thank-you tags.  They were perfect and everyone loved them!
